Chocolate Curls

Been looking up how to make chocolate curls today of the web so that I can put them on top of my chocolate cakes as a garnish. There are so many garnishes out there to learn and I love learning and practicing everyone...HAHA I even garnish my dinner plates at home sometimes just because there are so many food items we throw away that are not the best to eat, that actually can garnish a plate.

Garnish Tip #1.

When you use green onions don't throw away the bottom white part(root). Cut the off with a little green at the top still left on(about 2-3inches of green at most), put them in a container of ice water(with actual ice in it lol) and put a lid on the container. Now keep in your fridge....next you know the green onion root becomes a wonderful flower. The cold water reacts with the root causing it to separate and curl making it look like a flower to allow you to garnish a wonderful treat or dinner....TADA =-)

DAY ONE!

Dear Followers & Fans,

Today is day one of my blog for Jeni Jo's Bakery. I have created a website, a fan page on Facebook, made business cards and now have added a blog of the list of this to promote my brand spankin new business I am trying to launch. I feel I am doing pretty well and I am getting a lot of visits on the website so that's a good sign. The real thing we want is clients right?....well guess what I have received my first customer as well. I would like to thank my old friend from high school Ashley. She needs a Chocolate fudge cake on April 19Th and she will have one...a very delicious one at that lol. I will be doing a practice one this next week so I can perfect the creation and make sure its what she wants as well. That's the hard thing about starting up a business you have to spend money to make money and you have to try the treats to promote the treats=-). The family sure doesn't mind they get to try all the goodies as well and I am grateful for there support. Andy is my boyfriend and he is a great help he has saved a cake or 2 for me. Sometimes you just need more than 2 hands and he is there for me. Angela is my sister in law and she has been a great help too. Giving me ideas to promote and letting me just bounce stuff off of her...its great having the family I do to help out and of course my mom, dad, and brothers will always support by eating lol. I am so excited for everything that is happening I am trying to grow my business and thanks to my friends and family the word is spreading.
Today I made a few minor adjustments to the website. Just made it a little easier on the eyes by changing some font coloring and it helped a lot, making it more elegant. I also added pricing(finally). Pricing was a hard one for me I wanted to give people a good price for a homemade cake. Times are tough and I didn't want to be an over priced bakery either so finding what I feel is a happy medium was hard but I think I got. Everything is always subject to change right?.... lol when your starting out everything is always go with the flow. Well today has been good and if I can make it to the store for some milk I will be making a chocolate cake tonight I am thinking=-)...I love baking I want to bake everyday and night but I would be as big as a balloon and as poor as a mouse and we cant have that lol. As a result I cant wait till all of you want or need cakes so I can bake them for others and share the joy and deliciousness I think about all day =-)
